Healthy alternatives to coffee in the morning

Despite the health benefits of moderate coffee drinking, we all know that too much caffeine just isn't good for you. Because caffeine is a stimulant, many people drink coffee for the energy it provides. Some drink it by the pot, and end up with insomnia, anxiety and even nausea. However, there are some healthy alternatives to that morning coffee, and while they won't give you the pick-me-up that you're used to, they are still fine choices.

Teecino caffeine-free herbal coffee is popular because it tastes very much like conventional coffee. It has its own online forum, a newsletter, and a two-week plan to help coffee addicts wean themselves. There are new flavors of Teeccino, such as vanilla nut, raspberry, hazelnut and more.

Soy coffee is another good choice. If you aren't acquainted with the taste of soy, this may nost sound too pleasant, but many people enjoy the taste of soy coffee. It is gluten free, and has many of soy's purported health benefits, such as increased digestion, lower cholesterol, cardiovascular disease prevention, and hormone regulation. There are currently eight flavors to choose from, and a ten-ounce bag costs about fifteen dollars.

If you don't necessarily need your coffee alternative to taste like coffee, then yerba mate tea is another good choice. It does contain a small amount of caffeine, but not nearly as much as coffee.
